A WORD ABOUT MY OPINION OF GRIMES NEW ALBUM VISIONS (since everyone has one and wants to share)
Grimes is not bad. I will not sit here and say that it’s one of the worst albums I’ve ever heard and I will never listen to it again. At the same time I can’t say I liked it. I’ll start with the keyboards and instruments used. They became really really bland around song 3. I was hoping there would be a lot of variety but about halfway through I feel like I’m listening to the same song. Even when I first heard it I never loved it. It felt like someone made a layered loop and added synths on top to make it have some depth. Her voice is not one that would be appealing to really anyone. It walks between (slightly) dreamy and a shrill like vocal. I don’t find much to love about her voice. Half the time I can’t understand the lyrics which is not a bad thing because one of my favorite groups is Grouper but I feel like here the vocals need to be understood to feel something. They are poppy and should be slightly heard. It is boundary pushing and I respect that but I really was not a fan of this album.
